Károly Radnai re-elected to Andersen’s European Board of Directors

In December 2021, partners of Andersen Global’s member firms voted on the candidates of the European Board for the next four-year term. In addition to Károly Radnai, managing partner of Andersen Hungary, the Board – which consists of 11 members – also welcomes Marcin Matyka, country managing partner of Andersen Poland from the region.

Károly Radnai was first elected as a board member in 2018, as a result of a different nomination and voting process. Since then, two important changes have taken place. Firstly, the Andersen family has grown extraordinarily in size. Secondly, the size of the board has been reduced, increasing the value and prestige of the position now being offered.

Tasks of the European Board of Directors

Andersen Global is considered a young and dynamically expanding international organization. In the last few years, a large number of new member or collaborating firms have joined the international consultancy group, and this intensive expansion process is still ongoing. In Europe, the coordination and organisation of the work of new and existing members is one of the main tasks of the Board of Directors. Besides that, they also manage the coordination of special industry groups and service lines. It is where many policy decisions regarding business development, budget and marketing are made.

The European Board of Andersen meets quarterly. In October 2021, the event was again attended by the members in person after a long series of online meetings due to the pandemic.

Main achievements of the previous four-year cycle

Foremost we should highlight the nine legal and six tax service line teams that were set up by the board and which are backed by an active, multi-stakeholder coordination. Károly Radnai is currently involved in the work of two such teams. He has been in charge of the coordination of the business incentives and tax credits service line since 2019 and in 2022, he has been appointed to lead the tax compliance team as well.

Furthermore, numerous international events, publications and coordinated client proposals have been organized, with visible results for our clients. But more importantly, the coordinated business development and exchange of experience supports the activities of the individual member firms.

We should also give prominence to Andersen Academy, an international training program established for the development of junior colleagues. The Academy was launched two years ago and aims to provide international training in the field of the different service areas. Unfortunately, as with many other events, the pandemic required the program to run online, however, the courses are scheduled to resume in person soon.

Plans for the next four years

In Europe, Andersen has already established a presence in nearly 40 countries, thus the development of the European network is nearing completion. The missing sites are being filled in, and it is expected that within two years, all the white spots will be gone from the map.

“In addition, a healthy consolidation has started, the range of services is becoming more uniform, the activity is becoming more homogeneous and the large differences in size are starting to even out. The biggest challenge will be to bring together many offices with different cultures that have strengthened on their own. The aim is to achieve a much stronger international cooperation than the competition, while preserving the independence of the offices.” – Károly Radnai outlined the main goals and tasks facing the Andersen European Board of Directors.
