Regional aid intensity increased in three counties

The regional aid intensities for Baranya, Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén and Heves counties have been increased to 60%.

The European Commission has recently approved the modification of the so-called regional aid map so that in these three counties the regional aid intensity is now 60%, up from 50%. This regional aid map is applicable for numerous investment grant schemes and for the development tax incentive as well. It determines the total maximum amount of aid that can be made available as a percentage of the eligible costs (at present values). Small enterprises can benefit from an additional 20%, and medium-sized enterprizes can benefit from an additional 10% bonus, i.e. SMEs can now benefit from 70%-80% aid intensities.

The increase applies to the regions covered by the Just transition Fund (JTF). The JTF is one of the financial instruments of the cohesion policy, the purpose of which is to provide support to areas facing serious socio-economic challenges due to the transition to climate neutrality. The Fund is intended to support the implementation of the European Green Deal, which aims to make the EU climate-neutral by 2050.

The modified aid intensity will be available after the amendment of the relevant Hungarian legislation.
